AJA SUPPORT SERVICES in Oshawa, Ontario hires support workers for deployment in nursing homes, half-way houses, hospitals, and assisted living and group homes. We also hire professionals capable of providing care to people with special needs.
What the Job Entails

- Traveling to and from the members' homes within appointed times
- Providing caregiver services to a diverse group of members residing in a variety of locations
- Supporting and encouraging members and caregivers by communicating with them Involving clients in the provision of their care when possible by actively listening and engaging in appropriate interactions
- Interacting with patients, caregivers, and other people of a patient's support network in a professional and respectful manner
- Providing personal care which may include, but is not limited to bathing, grooming, skincare, dressing, toileting, lifts/transfers, mobility assistance, and assisting members at mealtime
- Administering and assisting patients with medication
- Operating mobility devices like transfer boards to aid in the safe and guideline-compliant lifting of patients
- Completing household tasks, including but not limited to laundry, making the bed, vacuuming, wiping kitchen surfaces, dusting furniture and other duties, as directed
- Preparing nutritious meals for members as per specific dietary needs
- Accompanying patients to medical appointments, shopping trips, and for walks as required.
- Advising management immediately if and when unable to keep an assignment or coming in late for a scheduled visit
- Assisting clients when performing ADL tasks to maintain and enhance the functional abilities
- Assisting other personal support workers with other assignments, as requested
- Collaborating with all members of the care team
- Creating and maintaining a safe and calm working/living environment in the patient's home
Required Qualifications
Required Qualifications
1.DSW, CSW, SSW, RPN or PSW certificates from:
- The Ontario Community College program
- Private Career College in Ontario registered with and approved by the Ministry of Training, Colleges, and Universities;
- Successful completion of the National Association of Career Colleges (NACC)-administered final examinations
2.Work experience in the developmental services sector preferred
3.Collaborative working skills
4.Valid Standard CPR and First Aid
5.Current annual medical check-up and health statement, including immunization
6.Up-to-date CPI (Nonviolent Crisis Intervention), CTI( Crisis Intervention with the hostile/Aggressive Individual) or Safe Management Training
7.Training background in Pharmacology and Medication, an asset
8.G2 or G driver's license and access to a vehicle
9.Availability for short notice shifts, including weekends and holidays
